Where humanitarian principles and operations align
A global medical workforce in motion
Every year, MSF sends around 3,000 international field workers to work alongside 25,000 local staff, delivering emergency medical aid to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion.
We operate across South Asia and beyond, supporting vulnerable communities without discrimination, guided by the values of the MSF Charter: neutrality, impartiality, non-discrimination, personal commitment, medical ethics and respect for human dignity.
Principled, collaborative and human-centred
MSF South Asia fosters a culture rooted in humanitarian principles, ethical accountability and cross-cultural collaboration. Staff operate in high-pressure environments, respecting diversity, sharing ownership of decisions and committing personally to impartial, life-saving action.
Pillars of our foundation
Connecting field and office for impact
Our operations link field and office teams to provide urgent care. Field staff face complex environments, while office teams coordinate resources, policies and training, maintaining operational readiness and alignment with MSF values.
Field Teams
Deployed internationally, provide medical care, surgery, mental health support, maternal and child health, WASH and epidemic response. Assignments usually last 6–12 months.
Office Teams
Based in South Asia, handle administration, finance, human resources, project management, training and operational support for field missions.
Coordination
Field and office staff work together to ensure supplies, security, compliance and operational continuity.
Mobility & Expertise
Staff rotate between field and office roles to maintain capacity, share knowledge and support diverse missions.
Safety & Compliance
Both teams follow strict security protocols and humanitarian principles, maintaining neutrality, impartiality and medical ethics.
